Florida Ballot Measures
Florida statewide constitutional amendments and questions voters have decided on, plus measures appearing on upcoming ballots. Plain-English summaries and attributed supporter / opponent arguments for each.
Homestead Tax Exemptions, Property Assessments, and Spending Restrictions Amendment
This would sharply cut the taxable value of primary homes for city/county (non-school) property taxes — exempting the first $150,000 of assessed value in 2027 and $250,000 from 2028 — and slow how fast assessments on rentals, second homes, and commercial property can rise (5%/yr instead of 10%/yr). It also limits what local governments may spend property-tax money on. School taxes are unchanged.
Agricultural Property Tax Exemption Amendment
Farm equipment and similar business property used for agriculture or agritourism would no longer be subject to local property taxes.
Budget Stabilization Fund Amendment
Florida’s constitutional “rainy-day fund” cap would rise from 10% to 25% of yearly general revenue, letting the state set aside far more in reserves.
